I QUIT
by Allwin Bright
I quit being a sentimental fool. I quit being sensitive, naive and over-protective. Above all I quit being myself.

That’s the way to go… 🙂

I am learning from life’s harsh realities.
I do not know if I’ll be able to shed my old self completely.
No matter how hard I try a part of me will still remain naive and foolish. It will always believe and trust in people and end up getting hurt over and over again. 😦

I know its hard to change ourselves..I know because I’ve been there but we have to keep trying. One day I am sure, you’ll be tired of being this “miserable you”, and then you’ll notice that change. Don’t give up…just keep trying. Try to fall in love with yourself… like yourself, and be happy in the little things of life…it might sound like a boring lecture but I know that it works… I finally found peace by making myself a priority in my life…Try that…You’ll be happy. Be optimistic…. 🙂

Thank you Mona
You are so kind. I don’t mind you giving me lecture. Sometimes all I need is someone to remind me to smile often and find happiness in the simplest of simplest things. I am glad you did.
P.S. – I had a chocolate ice cream this morning. And I am feeling happy already. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Yes, it works. It really does. 😀

Allwin,
Changing yourself is like molding yourself into another being- someone that is not quite like your old self, but fear not, change will come about. As you mature and grow older, your personality will change in response to changing conditions in the environment that constitutes everyday life. No-one can consistently stay the same without risking being “left behind”. Amongst old geezers (like me), there is much talk about “the good old days”, which is a figment of imagination that merely reflects the fact that we changed with time and social conditions. The past,–the good old days as older people often refer to when thinking about their youth, is history, a time that will never come back. Happiness is today and tomorrow, not something that can be retrieved from the past. Flow with the river of life and find happiness and contentment wherever it takes you.

Thank you Grandpa for saying the things everyone needs to hear in life. 🙂 This was posted way back in June. I was going through a rough phase of my life back then. I was alone and my mind was cluttered with negativity. I was needy and insecure. I felt like everybody around me was failing me – Friends, employers, siblings, family. I was agitated and confused. I was depressed, unhappy and often experienced deep self-loathing. It didn’t make me stronger. It didn’t make me better. And yet I was unable to stop hating myself for what I was and what I had become. I needed to get it off my chest and thus the post.
Am I over this depressive phase?
Not really. I’m still dealing with it. But yes, I am a lot better now. 🙂
In time I’ve learned to stand on my own two feet. I’ve learned that I can endure. That I am strong. I’ve learned to be grateful and thankful for the little things in life.
Flowing with the river of life finding happiness and contentment – That’s exactly what I am trying. I know. It’s not easy. But I’m gonna try like hell. 🙂
I hope you’re having a wonderful Christmas time with your family and friends back there in Canada. 🙂

Thanks Allwin, and the same to you, although I’m uncertain if Christmas, in the Christian sense is applicable to you. I’m not affiliated with any particular religion.- rather a bit of a free thinker Whatever you do in the new year, Allwin, just think that you are a better human being than anyone who thinks you are “nothing”. You are a human being, better educated than most of your fellow beings and that makes you special. Don’t let negative feelings about yourself control you. The power of positive thinking is the most powerful tool you can have at your disposal. Use it, and think of yourself as better than the average being around you. You have an enormous advantage over them–you have a fine education, a tool with which you can exceed the dreams of those who don’t. I have no doubt that you will accomplish things that they never will. All you need is your finding the courage that you have within you.
