BEHIND EACH REPLY…
by Allwin Bright
Do you suffer from writer’s block even while you reply back to comments on your posts. Well, I suffer from this weird syndrome.
Say I receive a comment from a blogger I get so excited that I jump to the orange notification icon as soon I see it. And if its a compliment from someone I really admire. I do a happy dance. But, I don’t reply back immediately. I say to myself – ‘Let me just bask in glory for sometime before I reply back.’ It takes time for the little spark of happiness and excitement to sink in. I know its kind of childish but, I like it. However, the thing with me and my writing is that I’ll have to write down my thoughts at the spur of the moment or else its lost forever. In my case this is true even for writing a three or four line comment. I for one do not like just replying to a comment just saying a ‘Thank you’. Not when a reader has really read your post and has taken the time to say something nice about you and your post. (I haven’t received a harsh or a critical comment on my blog till date. My readers have always been nice to me. I have no idea of how I’d react if I received one). I take my time to think… think… and think… I then draft a comment, I read at least 10 times before posting it. If you’ve noticed I sometimes edit the comment even after posting it.
So let me tell you something. If you’ve posted a comment on my blog it doesn’t take more than 12 hrs for me to notice it. Given that there’s internet connection available 24X7 both at home and at office. But, if I haven’t replied back yet its because I am still fighting the writer’s block to reply back. 😦
Please bare with me.
How easy or tough it is for you to post a reply comment?
What an honest post! You are right. It Is not good to just write two words in reply to someone who wrote a nice comment for you. In fact, found time to do so. Honestly, I have written a simple thank you many times!
But this post, is an eye opener. 😀 really!!

Thank you Ma’m
I can’t leave just a ‘Thank you’ as my reply comment after having preached so much. Can I? 🙂
I too have replied back with a simple Thank you quiet a few times. Its not that you shouldn’t. But, just a Thank you kind of kills the conversation. I’ve seen posts where the reader and blogger have long conversations in the comments section. I don’t think such conversations would have happened in the first place if the reply comment was just a Thank you.

I do it all the time. Because a “Thank You” is all that I can think of in reply to a compliment 😛

Believe me Mohit, thinking of a reply comment for me is just as difficult as it is for you. That’s the reason it takes an awfully long time for me reply back. 😦

Thank you Soumya 🙂
You are an exceptional blogger. I can say that without a doubt. You are an inspiration to me when it comes to blogging.
I’ll have to learn to be prompt in replying back to readers from you.
P.S. – I am really really sorry for:
1. My absence from your blog. 😦 😦
2. For being this late in replying back. I kept procrastinating this thing. 😦

Ha ha! So sweet of you Allwin to admit that! But I think, I don’t suffer from any such thing. I do respond as soon as I see a comment. For me it is very important to talk to those people who took out few moments from their precious life to leave behind a comment on my blog.
Well anyways, I’ve nominated you for an award! Please accept! 🙂

There are no linkbacks to this award!
And don’t worry, I am ready to wait till the happiness of receiving this award sinks in. 😛 You can take your time to think and then reply to my comment! 😀 😀 😀

Thank you so much Trisha… 🙂
So sweet of you to nominate me for yet another award. 🙂
Sorry that I made you wait for an eternity this time. 😦 It took me long because I was thinking of excuses to come up with. Finally here it is.
1. I was being lazy (which is my excuse by default).
2. WordPress was blocked in office. 😦 😦
3. Life got hectic after taking up a part time job.
4. It took time for me settle down living away from my family.
Well, things are quiet okay now and I can now safely say that I’ll publish my award post as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance for understanding. 🙂

Hey Allwin, in fact I have a different problem; too many options at hand to respond. I usually like to post a comment in a lighter context but then when conversing with a new (to my blog) reader I am in this dilemma because acceptance if jest varies widely from person to person.
Your meticulous efforts in articulating your responses stand you out from the masses.

Different people, different problems, eh? 😛
But to be frank the problem with me is I tend to think too much. It kills inspiration. May be I should stop thinking and simply do what feels right.
And Thank you for calling me meticulous. Its a wonderful compliment. 🙂

I’m the same. I love when that little icon turns orange, but often I don’t know what to say in reply to comments!

I can’t believe that its taken a month for me to reply back to your comment. I am really really sorry. 😦 😦 😦
Your site is blocked in my office for some lame reason. I think that may have been one of the many reasons why I kept procrastinating this thing. (The other reasons being negligence and laziness). I am again sorry for the negligence and laziness part.
Whenever there is a new reader to my blog (which is rarest of a rare case). I try to find a little about the person behind through the blog. Its always nice to know the human side of the blogger. And this was hampered.
Coming back to the point – The reply to your comment.
To be honest I still don’t have clue of what to say in reply to your comment. 😦 But, I couldn’t put this off anymore. Thus, the
replycomment. I hope you understand. And the post was on replying back to reader’s comments. How ironical?
